Nandamuri Kalyan Ram who is desperately waiting for a big break in his career chasing young and experienced talents in the industry. However, he failed to impress the Telugu audience with his earlier movies. Now, this hero came up with a thriller movie this time. Let’s see how 118 did on the screens.

Gowtham (Kalyan Ram) protagonist is an investigative journalist. He gets a dream when he stays in room no 118 in a resort on full moon days. In his dream, he sees a girl getting beaten and a car being thrown into a lake.

After waking up, he comes to the conclusion that he got a similar dream earlier too when he stayed in the same room in previous months. He starts investigating the case to find out who the girl is.

Though his wedding is fixed with Megha (Shalini Pandey), he is keener on finding this girl who turns out to be Aadhya (Nivedha).

Who is Aadhya? What has happened to her? is the story.

Kalyan Ram has given his best in the film. His getup as an investigative journalist is convincing. Nivetha Thomas got an important charecter in the film. She proved her acting skills one more time with this film. Her role is one of the few assets in the film especially in the second half of the film.
Shalini Pandey gets raw deal as female lead. Prabhas Sreenu, Hari Teja and Rajeev Kanakala are okay.

Technical Departments:

KV Guhan is a proved cameraman and his directorial skills were doubted until this film. But 118 proved KV Guhan can handle megaphone with ease. He chooses a simple story but has executed it nicely with a gripping screenplay. He has given utmost importance to small details in the film. He executed the first half so wll and he carries the momentum in the second half but things get bogged down with a predictable flashback which should have been made crisp to make it more interesting for the audience.

Production values by Mahesh S Koneru are top notch. The film looks rich in every frame and gives you that authentic feel of a good thriller. Special mention to the camera work as the film has been showcased in a very good manner. The montage shots, scenes covering various cities and the resort setup look realistic.

Music by Shekhar Chandra is decent but his background score was even better. Dialogues by Mirchi Kiran are apt and suit the mood of the film. Kalyan Ram has been styled quite well in the film.

This movie is a neat thriller without getting deviated to other lines. Suspense maintained throughout the movie. Except for slow narration in the second half and slugging scene movie is a good watch. We have to wait until box-office reports to reveal how the movie is doing at all the centres.

Bottom Line: Sluggish but convincingly stylish.
