First ever Telugu Space movie Anthariksham 9000kmph has got positive buzz since its announcement. Trailer of the film created huge suspense among the Telugu audience. And it hit the screens all over the world today and let’s look at how it is on the screens.

The story is simple, one of the Indian satellite faces the technical issue and it will destroy all other satellite if not fixed within a short span of time. Riya (Aditi Rao Hydary) and Mohan (Srinivas Avasarala) suggest their boss that only Dev (Varun) can fix the problem. But, Dev left the Indian Space Center five years ago due to his mission which traces water resources on Moon failed midway.
The story is all about how Dev was convinced and how he solved the problem out there in the space.

Artistes’ Performances:
Varun Tej as stubborn astronaut did his best on screen. In fact, he is improving himself as an actor for every movie. His performance in the emotional scenes is worth appreciating.
Adithi Rao Hydery was decent and Srinivas Avasarala didn’t get much to act in the film. Lavanya Tripathi was okay.

Production Values:
The Anthariksham 9000kmph almost mimicked actual space center and space station conditions for this movie. VFX work is impressive and DOP Gnanashekar is at his best for the film. Background score is good and editing is neat.

Sankalp Reddy who won the national award for his Ghaji The Attack is the director of this film. This is his second film. He didn’t want to test the audience to launch the concept of the film. He started the movie with a problem and tried his best to convince the audience. Problem is Indian space center has to tackle the issue of the failed satellite Mihira that would bring bad reputation to the Indian space organization. Who will solve it? Obviously, the Hero!

The first half narrates the love story between Varun and Lavanya Tripathi and the main problem in the Mihira Satellite and Varun’s mission. To give an emotional touch to this Sci-Fi film, director killed Lavanya’s character and fails the Varun’s mission which traces water on Moon. Later the film focuses on the mission and rest of the movie is set in space.

Director has taken a lot of cinematic liberty to show heroes confident. Sometimes the hero sounds foolish. Especially when he wants to reach out to Satellite which is in the orbit of Moon. But, movies are all about taking some liberty to show which is not possible in real life.
Despite some little flaws and illogical space flying and catching satellite sequences movie is great. This could have beat all Indian records if the narration is the correct meter.

Bottom-line: Anthariksham…taken Telugu Cinema to another standard
