The Bharatiya Janata Party’s public meeting in Guntur on Sunday was successful with Prime Minister Narendra Modi taking strongly on Chief Minister and Telugu Desam Party supremo Chandrababu Naidu. The BJP leadership had pinned its hopes on the Prime Minister to tear Chandrababu Naidu into pieces and expose his opportunist politics. They were also waiting for Narendra Modi to counter the campaign by Chandrababu Naidu and his TDP against the BJP, Central government and the Prime Minister.

As expected by the State BJP leaders, Narendra Modi took a hard-hitting stand against Chandrababu Naidu. There were cheers from the BJP activists from the gathering when Narendra Modi took pot-shots on Chandrababu Naidu, his son Lokesh and the TDP’s campaign against Central government. That was what the State BJP leaders have been waiting for. The media had given enough coverage for Modi’s speech – both in print and electronic media.

The BJP leaders now believe that the message of the other side of the coin had gone to the people now who have been listening to only one side of the facts from Chandrababu Naidu. The BJP leaders could not match the intensive campaign by Chandrababu Naidu and his TDP leaders in the media, which was in favour of the TDP. Now, they found that their due share in the media is gained and people were told about the BJP’s side of facts.

The success of the Guntur meeting had also given some advantage to the leadership of Kanna Lakshminarayana, who had been facing some uncomfortable situations in the party against his leadership. The seniors in the party are not happy with Kanna Lakhsminarayana who had just joined the party from the Congress. The party high command had appointed him as the party State chief against the wishes of senior leaders like Kambhampati Haribabu and Somu Veerraju.

Now, the Guntur meeting had given a chance to Kanna to prove his metal and thus gain an upper hand. He is now planning for the Visakhapatnam meeting where Narendra Modi would address a public meeting on February 27. In a way, the AP BJP leaders are happy that they could tell the facts to the people from their side.
