CBN’s talk of opposition unity fails in Chennai

December 17, 2018 | News Of 9

Telugu Desam Party supremo Chandrababu Naidu has been talking about the opposition unity at the national level. He met several leaders in the last four months and talked about his efforts in building a strong alliance against Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Though he had attended the Congress-led UPA meeting in Delhi on December 10, his media in Andhra Pradesh claimed big about his efforts in uniting the opposition. Now in Chennai, this bubble was burst proving that Chandrababu Naidu had become part of the UPA.

The meeting in Chennai, where UPA chairperson Sonia Gandhi, Congress president Rahul Gandhi and the Left leaders were present, besides Chandrababu Naidu, had given a call to the nation projecting Rahul Gandhi as the prime minister candidate. The DMK chief M K Stalin had announced the candidature of Rahul Gandhi for the country’s top post. This was the first announcement of the UPA about Rahul Gandhi’s candidature though the Congress had announced it much earlier.

Now, while present at this meeting, Chandrababu Naidu remained silent, accepting the fact that he had now become part of the UPA and there was nothing called uniting the opposition at the national level. The BSP chief Mayawati and Trinamool Congress chief Mamata Benerji, who are also in the race for the Prime Minister post, are yet to give their consent. Chandrababu Naidu who failed to meet Mayawati and who met Mamatha could not bring them together. However, the TDP-sponsored media continues to talk about his efforts at the national level.

The TDP chief is now sealed in the UPA and has no support outside. It is clear now that Chandrababu Naidu had to stay with the Congress-led UPA, accepting Rahul Gandhi’s leadership. The doors are closed for him to talk about any other alternative. As of now, there are two alternatives – the Congress-led UPA and the BJP-led NDA. As he opposes NDA now, the option before him is to stay with the UPA carrying Rahul Gandhi over his shoulders.

It is now better for the TDP and its media slaves to stop talking about Naidu’s wheel at the national level and admit the fact that he had become part of the UPA.
