Karthi’s last movie Khakhi failed to impress Telugu audience. Now, the same pair tried their luck one more time with Dev. There were no proper promotions for the film which led to poor expectations of the film. Let’s see how Dev tried to impress Telugu Audience.
Dev(Karthi) doesn’t like 9 to 5 job rather he loves to go on adventurous trips and wants to live the life to the fullest. In an occasion, he falls in love with Meghana (Rakul) who is a busy businesswoman. She doesn’t want herself to be love with anyone and waste her time. Somehow she got impressed with Dev’s attitude and falls for him. But how they tackled different lifestyle problems together is the story.
Karthi gave his hundred percent for the role and perfectly fits into the Dev’s shoes. Rakul did ok kind of job and she could have done better. There are no other prominent performances in the film to talk about.
Ramya Krishna and Prakash Raj gone wasted in the film and Dev’s friend Vignesh Kanth has nothing but an irritating role in the film.
The major drawback in the film is the story itself. Poor directorial skills and lack of interesting screenplay made the film more sluggish.
Harish Jairaj’s music is ok and Production values are top notch. The cinematography is good. Editing could have been better.
It is still a mystery to us how Karthi okayed this story in the first place. What is so special about this story and the director? Director didn’t have anything to show on the screen. He just played with the character like a puppet show. Even puppet shows used to have convincing stories but not Dev.
Indifferent story, Poor interval sequence, and boring second half makes the film horrible to watch it.
Bottom Line: DEV: One more disastrous Tamil flick
